In my math class there are three 3x5 magnetic boards with lined graph paper which will display each students progress for each subject or section with stickers or achieved scores. All students will visually see what they need to become a SME (subject matter expert) whether it be in solving one step equations or two step equations. Mastery or understanding Algebra 1 is what I want students to achieve and that is what is fostered in my class. By using the draw erase boards it will help students practice, practice, practice solving equations during instruction, when in pairs or when in groups. Students love to be right and love being recognized in front of their peers so with the stickers, lights and sounds they can get motivated to continue to learn more and encourage growth in learning math..
