This 8 week course in Mindfulness practices will equip me to create an inclusive space where my students can learn foundational skills in building attention, focus, and self-regulation. In this course, I will learn to practice and model for my students self-care, curiosity, and how to work with feelings of stress and burnout. The return to in-person school has been a difficult transition for everyone. My students are desperate for a sense of normal and need a space where they can feel grounded. By teaching my students the tools of mindfulness and coupling those strategies with music, I aim to empower my students with methods to manage their stress and anxiety while improving their focus and ability to learn. The Mindful Schools program was designed with the purpose of educators sharing their learning with colleagues. Once I complete this course, I intend to collaborate with other educators at my site and within my district.
