In first grade, we frequently sit on the carpet for building community, read alouds, and whole group lessons. We also use pillows for added comfort during independent reading time. With all the changes in schools right now due to safety precautions, our district has decided that no cloth materials are allowed for shared use in the classroom. Since carpets and pillows are cloth, we are not allowed to have them this year due to the difficulties in sanitizing them. Therefore, I would like to get vinyl floor cushions that students may use throughout the day and are easy to sanitize. These cushions will allow for a little comfort to be returned to our classroom, while also helping with our Social and Emotional Learning because of the expressions and emotions on them!
