My school sits in the heart of North Nashville, TN, where many of our families don't have the necessary essentials for survival. Our community has lived through the devastation of the March tornadoes, COVID-19 pandemic, Black Lives Matter movement, and other traumatic experiences. All of these worldly crises have left our students and families in financial and emotional hardships they are now trying to dig out of. The purpose of this project is to support our most vulnerable families with nutrition and food products to stimulate the mind and body. I have taken ownership of connecting with our families to extend resources to get them physically prepared to begin this school year virtually.
