With the new parameters around social distancing, contact tracing, and safety protocols, our students will have less access to shared spaces and flexibility to move as needed, as we will stick to a pretty structured schedule. As a result, we are looking to increase the number of seating options that allow for movement while also allowing for space within the classroom. Desk cycles or bike desks are a great way to create learning spaces that accommodate social distancing and movement. We'd love to be able to provide 2 or 3 desk cycles per grade to start the year in the fall. Not only will this help us on a universal level for all students, but it will also be a really great option for students with disabilities that require movement to be able to focus and stay engaged and ready to learn. A desk cycle would be a perfect option for a student who needs a movement break or less distracting location to work within the classroom. This type of accommodation would be optimal and preferred since it allows for maximum participation in the general education setting.
