As a Special Educator, my students come from 1-3 grade-levels below where they should be. With so many different learning disabilities, one thing has been proven effective to help students with disabilities become successful students… manipulatives. Whether they are learning Place Value, Fractions, or simple 2-digit to 3-digit Addition and Subtraction, one thing is for sure, no matter what level my students are on, having access to different ways to learn, and realizing that no two people learn the same way, can mean the difference between a students’ success and failure, AND the students’ self-confidence when they become successful at each math goal we have set.
