Headphones with microphone capability will boost English language learner student engagement in distance learning - whether in a hybrid model in the fall or in a fully remote distance learning situation. One of the main downfalls of schools closing due to COVID-19 was that students lost out on most of their opportunities to practice and master spoken English. Having access to these headphones will enable them to voice record, engage in classroom discussions and more easily practice spoken English even during distance learning. Giving students the chance to engage in more verbal learning will boost morale, boost their interest level and engagement, and allow them to more effectively engage in their English language learning without being totally disadvantaged by the development of the pandemic.
