With these resources my students will get to test synthetic blood to determine blood types. They will also learn what antigens are present or absent on red blood cells to give each individual one of 4 blood types. Students will also learn about the Rh factor. The presence of this antigen determines whether or not the blood type is the positive or negative variety. With these kits, my students will understand the importance of knowing a mother and baby’s blood type to prevent complications during delivery. It's a fun and safe way to see first hand how blood typing is determined.
