The science topic of chemistry can be difficult for some students to grasp. There are times during the class that you have to think in such an abstract way. At this level in their education, many students are not ready for this or are just learning how to do this. I would like to use molecular models to help students learn about molecules in a visual three-dimensional hands-on interactive activity to assist the students in their abstract thinking. A molecular model shows the elements and the number of atoms of each element present in the molecule. Students will be building molecules of the compounds we commonly use. These models will be used to study intermolecular forces, shape and bond type, shared and unshared pairs of electrons. The concept of molecules will be continued throughout the student’s college career as they move on in their studies of the Health and Sciences. It is important that I help them understand the concept at this early level.
