Having books with characters of all colors and backgrounds will help all children who may be in my class see themselves as the main character, and teach them about other people's cultures, promoting diversity. Books about feelings and emotions will help them learn that it is okay to have many different types of feelings and help them learn how to regulate their emotions and show empathy to others. My wish is to create a welcome and safe environment for all students, by teaching them about diversity and regulating emotions. I believe having many books with characters from different cultures will help my students learn that everyone is different and that is okay. Reading books about emotions, kindness, and empathy will help my students to become well rounded citizens and hopefully be lessons they will carry with them to adulthood.
