Help our team of 6 teachers to create take home learning tool kits for each of the 100+ kindergarten students at Gullett Elementary School in Austin ISD ! These kits will allow our students to continue hands on learning whether they are socially distanced in the classroom or schooling at home with virtual teacher support. We know that young children learn best through games, exploration, and play. One of our primary goals this year is to facilitate those experiences despite the challenges we are facing as a school system and larger society. We are also working to combat equity issues and recognize that not all students have basic learning materials at home. These tool kits will help to limit screen time and will include activities that can be completed without parent support during virtual learning. They will promote safety in classrooms by limiting shared materials. They will provide an opportunity for educational continuity regardless of the setting. The kits will include basic school supplies, hands-on manipulatives, math and literacy activities/games, and other versatile materials that will be used daily across subject areas (whiteboards, organizational materials, play-doh, flashcards, etc). We will be including parent purchased and teacher purchased supplies in the kits as well, but we need your help to fund all we need for quality kits. Our school's PTA is unable to support us in purchasing these materials as spring fundraisers were cancelled due to Covid 19. Thanks so much for supporting the kindergarten team!
