Each group now has their own set of engaging titles like Because of Winn-Dixie, James and the Giant Peach, The One and Only Ivan, and Mercy Watson. Having these books in small group sets has allowed us to dig deeper into reading discussions—students are able to follow along together, share predictions, and build confidence as readers.\r\n\r\nThe math materials have also made a huge difference in small group and math center choices. The Lakeshore regrouping kits and magnetic base-ten blocks have given my students hands-on tools to work through tricky addition and subtraction strategies in guided math. During one session, a student who usually avoids math lit up as she demonstrated regrouping to her peers using the manipulatives—turning a challenge into a success. The math and literacy games, such as Mathemagical World, Context Clues Treasure Hunt, and Upwords, are now used in small groups and center rotations, giving students the chance to practice skills in a fun, engaging way.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these resources will continue to anchor our small group lessons. The decodable chapter books are helping struggling readers build fluency and confidence, while the guided reading strips and colorful card-stock are supporting students as they track text and creating printable games!
