Most teachers must spend their own time and resources to find books for their classroom libraries. One goal that I would like to work on is developing a curated library that centers the joyful voices of my students, particularly my students who have been historically marginalized. When they browse through my books, I want them to see people who look like them and share their experiences. Additionally, I also hope that books can serve as windows to stories students have never been exposed to before. Creating a mindful library will help students foster empathy with each other and their extended communities.
