My students are an incredible mix of kids from many backgrounds. Every one of them comes into class able to contribute positively to our learning environment. We read, write, and learn about art; but most importantly we create art. As middle school students, my kids grow in many ways during the three years they spend on our campus. In my room, they explore ways to grow creatively through hands-on studio projects enriched with art history. They are able to draw, paint, work with printmaking and ceramics. Most students will tell you they enjoy art because they are able to express themselves and have fun. I think they enjoy it because it allows them to relax and learn in a creative space.
