We have a small community and I’d love to get these kiddos involved with great books that show a variety of life situations. The other things I’ve requested help with organizing life. Who doesn’t a need more organized life? The books I’ve selected represent a variety of life situations and will give students the chance to read and research things going on during that time in history. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is one of the books I’ve selected. The kids will research the children of Auschwitz and see if they were liberated or not. This event in history can be aligned with issues facing America today. Students will research and compare this extreme form of racism with current events. Kids today need more exposure to a variety of cultures and the chance to discuss how those cultures may differ from their own. Book studies will give them this amazing chance.
