My unique group of students have been resilient through the ongoing pandemic. Some of them have been separated from their parents due to their military obligations while learning from home. Many of my students will be coming back to school from homes where their parents have lost their jobs. Since more than half of the students who attend my school come from low-income families, some parents will have to choose between spending money on basic necessities or school supplies. I want to welcome my students back to school with the materials and resources they need to be successful whether they are in school or learning from home. Students can use the dry erase boards to practice vocabulary and write out math problems. Dry erase boards are a great tool to help keep students engaged in the classroom. Privacy partitions help to create an instant distraction-free environment for tests, writing and working independently at their tables. Pencils and crayons promote creative expression and aid with writing. As a first year, first grade teacher, I want to create a more equal learning environment. Having these supplies will help to increase class preparedness, class participation and interest in learning.
