Our school would like to start a multi-discipline and highly engaging technology-based sustainability project with students in our new Sustainability Club. The items listed are needed for student-centered remote learning and maintenance of a Self-Sustainable Aquaponics System Garden for our students. Our students need one Google Expeditions 5 User Kit for DonorsChoose.org; Logitech - Harmony Elite (Remote Control and Smart Hub) - Black ; Rachio - 8-zone 3rd Generation Smart Sprinkler Controller; Streamlabs - Wi-Fi Home Water Monitoring and Leak Detection System ; & Johnson Controls - GLAS Smart Programmable Touch-Screen Wi-Fi Thermostat - Gray- for virtual class sessions, online presentations, & tours since distance learning is currently necessary. These resources (one each)- are needed to achieve rich learning outcomes from lessons wherein students interact remotely to incorporate, manage and study remote access, automation technology systems integration design, & to collaborate to design/implement a necessary ebb and flow system (carries excess fish waste from their home tank to plants' water tank/ returns clean water to fish). Each of your donations to our school is an investment in sustainability, recycling, green living, composting and eating and living better and more healthy! What a perfect time to get involved with aquaponics. Aquaponics is the marriage of two vegetable & fish farming growth systems- aquaculture and hydroponics. In an ideal aquaponics system, an ecosystem is created wherein water plants like hyacinth, watercress, and other fish-friendly nutritious plants are fed on by the fish. Fish waste produces amonia and nitrites that fertilize the water plants causing them aquaponics friendly vegetables like lettuce to grow, oxygenate & clean the water, to provide a continuous supply of food for the fish. As the fish and veggies grow to an edible size, they'll be harvested for food. A partnership for us all!
