The choice of books included in my project are to excite through the topics I teach (math, science, social studies) and also touch on social and emotional learning. With these book choices my students will have the opportunity of becoming stronger readers and leaders. With this project my students will be introduced to quality books that they can relate to, that allow us to discuss diverse and inclusive characters/stories, and also create a foundation for learning across some content areas. By having these options I know they will have books that interest them. My students deserve to have books that represent themselves and also open up deep conversations; both socially and academically.
