My 5th and 6th grade students will be excited to read books where they see people of different races and backgrounds as well as reflections of themselves. They will also see new books and that will make them a little more eager to read them. I have chosen books that I think will catch their interests. I know that once they read some of these books we will be able to have discussions about the difficulties people face because of their race. Im excited to see what questions, comments and learning comes from reading these books with my students.
