Like I mentioned before, our school is predominantly students of color, around 90%. However, many of the texts that are currently in my curriculum funded library are not representative of my students. Students should be able to see themselves and their stories in the books they are reading. I have also added books that will spark metacognitive conversations to that students can make sense of the real world situations, especially taking into consideration where out country is today. These books will really make a difference for every one of my students.
