These students have been through a rough 2019/20 and 2020/21 school years and this year promises to be just as stressful. I want to help my students to practice mindfulness when they will be feeling stressed or tired. We could either do short mindfulness activities or use our peace corner while we sit on our sensory mats throughout a 30 minute session, following (COVID protocols, of course). We will learn breathing exercises, pause times, mindfulness stretching activities or just to write how those exercises are helping the students to cope in and our of my session. And posting it on our peace board. The activities will not be very long. I also hope that the students will take back these simple and short activities to the classroom. My students are special and anything to help them to cope during this stressful period will be a welcome change.
