As we enter this school year, we will be navigating a combination of in-class and distance learning teaching strategies. At the end of last year, my students were completing hard copy paper assignments with little continuity between lessons. This year, I aim to significantly improve my distance learning instruction. My students will greatly benefit from continuous units with high interest reading materials. This projects will provide all of the trade books needed to teach the Rooted in Reading program, a year long literacy plan that meets all of the third grade ELA standards. Through distance learning, I plan to record myself reading each book that corresponds to the weekly lessons. The reading list displays a wide range of cultural, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. Whether in class or through distance learning, I will be able to use these materials to meet the needs of my students.
