I teach in a Title 1 school where the population of students are primarily Black, Hispanic, and Asian. There are statistics that libraries don't portray the readers accurately. I want my students to be seen, heard, and represented in our classroom library. I want to be able to share with them and show that I'm interested in learning more about their culture and background. I want them to be able to embrace who they are through these books. It is important for students in early childhood to be in contact with all types of literacy materials.
