Books take you on adventures. They open your eyes to things you didn't know existed and take you off to far away lands. They create endless possibilities for the reader! Through books, students can widen their lens and develop empathy, they can learn about new cultures and make new connections. These books will give my students chances to see themselves on pages. They will see characters that look like them, living in neighborhoods just like them, wearing clothes just like them. These books will also give them the opportunity to learn about their peers. Children at all ages deserve access to these beautifully crafted books, so they can learn about and appreciate the racial and cultural differences around them.
