Our students are capable of so much if given the opportunity! I would like to start a project with students where they get to design, manufacture, market and sell buttons to other students and staff on campus. Students will be involved in all aspects of their business, from how many designs will be sold, tracking sales data, what to do with the proceeds and so much more! They will be exposed to a variety of job opportunities from cashier, design, manufacture, marketing, and management. Most importantly students will learn to work as a team and how to work with their customers. I am a big believer in learning and practicing self-advocacy and challenging our students. I feel that this project would be perfect in doing this and give our students a bigger footprint on campus! To see their product being worn by their peers will bring so much pride and enhance skills needed for employment. This project will be incorporated into our Occupational Prep and Life Skills Mathematic classes enabling students to add to their resume and build knowledge in concepts of money, budgeting, recording and analyzing data.
