Solar panels and multimeters are a springboard for engineering projects that involve renewable energy and electricity production. With the solar panels and multimeters, students will be able to explore electrical circuits (parallel, series, and combination), explore the advantages of solar panel setups, and eventually try to create a solar-powered cell phone charger. The engineering design project will allow students to investigate how up to four solar panels can be arranged to produce the desired amount of electricity. This will include wiring configuration, panel orientation, panel specification and maintenance.
