Students are much more more motivated to engage in solving math problems using white boards and markers than traditional paper and pencil. Additionally, they allow me to see the students' work and quickly access any errors they may have made. Thus, it allows quick identification of students that require more one on one instruction. 5th grade math consists of multiple step problems and often require more than one operation to reach the solution. Providing each student a math toolkit will go a long way in engaging and promoting students' success and keeping them safe.
