Do you remember sitting in class and not being able to focus or hearing your teacher ask what YOU as an individual needed from them to succeed? Well, if you said no, my classroom will have those things for my students. On my list, I have a lot of flexible seating options including wobble cushions, cushions for floor seating, stools for small groups, yoga balls to help students move while sitting at their desk, and a high top table for students to stand while learning. I have worked with a lot of students with ADHD who need individual supports to stay focused in the classroom. These materials will help individual students who need to move but while learning. I also have added fidget bands so students can have them put on their chairs to help them sit still through an entire lesson. This classroom is an equitable classroom where EACH individual student receives what they need to succeed instead of a one size fits all approach because every student has a different learning style and different needs and they should be built upon in the classroom. On my list I have whiteboards and clipboards. These allow students who may not work well at their desk and need something to write on while they work around the room and for students who are visual learners and need whiteboards to work out math problems and practice spelling words. All of these materials will be used to help students be successful. I want students to find out what works best for them by having a variety of materials in my classroom. Any contribution will go towards helping students who need that extra flexibility and movement in the classroom and will support my students learning styles and what they bring to the classroom!
