Every year, we complete a fingerprinting unit as a cornerstone of Forensic Science. Students learn to identify the ridge characteristics that make an individual's fingerprint unique. Students first learn by taking their own fingerprints, and then apply their knowledge to prints that are planted in a fake crime scene. Students will use the thumbprint pad, fingerprint powder, and forensic supply kit, in order to participate in a mock trial; where they become expert witnesses in a trial that involves fingerprint evidence. The hands - on learning that students will get from using the materials, will allow students to take a front seat in their learning. These are enough supplies for all students to work simultaneously and not have to wait for a classmate, or watch another person in their group do the work for them.
