The authentic news stories in the French Scholastic magazines "Bonjour" and "Chez Nous" will help my students explore the globe while immersing themselves in the French language. While my students cannot leave Detroit to travel to a French-speaking region during the current pandemic, they can build connections with Francophone people and culture throughout the world while developing their skills in interpretive reading. The articles will also be a platform for critical discourse on global issues. For example we will study island of Reunion's success in protecting the great whales that travel from Antarctica each year to spend the summer.

About my class
