The iPads I am requesting will help my classroom more than you know. In a class of 30 or more students each year they will be shared so that every child can use them daily. These iPads will help support the amazing new learning that they have begun doing during this terrible time. We have learned so many amazing new programs that not only keep the students engaged but also push the students thinking and learning.
In a world full of technology it only make sense that technology is used in the classroom. During this unprecedented time the DOE quickly had to figure out how to get over 1 million students online for distance learning. For our school that meant giving out every single computer and iPad that we had in the building, because most of our students didn't have a device at home.
The excitement the children get when they hear its their turn to go on to the iPad and use our educational programs is amazing! Teaching them that they can read books on an iPad, draw pictures for their math work, type their writing, or find images to add to their content work are just some of the basic things that make a huge impact down the line. Coming from a former upper grade teacher these students not learning it now greatly effects them when they get older. The sadness in an upper grade students face when they can't type their essay or do research for their project because they don't know how is heartbreaking. This kind of work needs to be taught more in the early years.
