With COVID 19 restrictions limiting space for learners inside the classroom, outdoor classrooms not only provide a safe learning environment, but also a fun and engaging area to explore and enhance their learning. We would like to expand our learning environment across the lanai and under the canopies. In order to make the most of this space, we will need some items to make it a success. While these times call for creative solutions, I know that our outdoor classroom will be used for outdoor education for years to come. Studies have shown that outdoor learning helps improve cognitive skills and behaviors all while making learning more fun. Fresh air, amazing scenery and nature sounds help spark imagination, and improve memory and mental well being. Although outdoor classrooms in the past have been primarily for science, and P.E., this classroom will be used for all subjects, and activities. Please help support our effort to create a totally awesome outdoor classroom that will enhance the adventure of learning on our beautiful Alaka'i O Kauai campus.
