The reading center in my PreK classroom is an inviting place where students can enjoy books and props with an opportunity to act out their favorite stories. I would like to add a couple of Galaxy tablets to this center so my students can access free digital libraries and have the opportunity to listen to stories being read to them. While children listen, the words of the text are actually highlighted as the stories are being read them. This allow the kids to visually see the print being read from top to bottom and from left to right. This reinforces book and print knowledge necessary for learning to read. It is my hope that the tablets will be a motivational tool to help make reading and experiencing books a truly exciting and wonderful every day occurrence in my classroom.
