I am a first-year teacher who is going into a school that is being rebuilt. Because of this, I will be in a significantly smaller classroom where space will be limited. To maximize my classroom space, I have to clearly define spaces for whole group instruction with a designated area rug and teaching chair where students can participate in discussions, reading to the class, and partner activities. We also need to grow our class library and create a reading nook for independent reading, storage caddies will help define group supplies to limit lost materials. Flexible seating options for students is a great incentive for students to earn with good behavior and through this opportunity students will have variety in seating rather than sitting in a typical school chair all day. I want to provide the best environment for my students that is as spacious as it can be. However, funding for classroom essentials, aside from supplies, can be challenging to achieve in a first-year classroom coming straight out of student teaching and having four children of my own to care for. Donations are greatly appreciated to help me achieve a comfortable environment that will help my students focus, learn, and grow their potential as learners.
