Relationship building, hands-on learning, and sensory strategies are critical to our approach to foster our students’ engagement in learning. Our school will begin the school year remotely and it is difficult for us to put into words how much we will miss starting the year with beginning to build relationships with our students in person. Families are being asked to support keeping their children engaged in learning throughout the day while balancing numerous other responsibilities. We want to support families and students by making sure they have the tools available to remain engaged in learning as much as possible during the day. These tools (dry erase boards and markers, sheet protectors, manipulatives to support math skills, sensory tools such as clay and fidgets, materials to support the development of coping skills such as bubbles, writing, and art tools) will help to support our students’ engagement in learning activities.
