Before students can effectively use different microscopy techniques; they first need to be able to identify various bacteria and other microorganisms. Microslides are a valuable hands-on tool for students to explore the world of Microbiology. Hands-on activities are considerably more potent at both engaging students and at improving recall than just showing videos or pictures. Organisms that would be impossible to see under a traditional microscope are clearly identifiable using microslides. Once students have oriented themselves in the world of the microcosmos they will be able to successfully discern various microorganisms using more advanced microscopic techniques.
