I am an Indigenous educator. I hope to use the materials in this project to help teach my students about being kind to others, regardless of someone being the same or different from themselves. Their actions have consequences, and it’s my job to help them build the skills to pay attention. In our classroom community, kindness rules. The pandemic has had many, many impacts on our lives. The ability to be a friend and then make and keep friends is something I have strived to teach since the first day of school this year. While usually, students begin learning that in kindergarten, this group was the group in kindergarten when the world shut down. They deserve the chance to learn about those that exist but may not be present in my classroom. Cultures across the world have a place in my classroom to be learned. The stories, crayons, and even jump ropes within this project will help strengthen my students skills to be and have friends. It will also help them to stand up to bullying when they see it.
