Music education is difficult during distance learning. The lag on the internet makes singing and playing together as a group difficult. Students are stressed out in quarantine. I would use teaching my students to play ukulele as a a stress reducing, hopefully lifelong hobby. They can sing along as they learn to read music and how to play a fun instrument. This instrument is safe to use during this pandemic, it can be easily wiped down after each use, coupled with good hand washing. Students will have a blast learning to play the ukulele! They can play even if they have no internet, or if their internet is being problematic.
