In my classroom, we use a lot of picture symbols, communication boards, and other low tech items to help our students communicate. Before we were out of school due to COVID-19 in March, many of my students were about to start different trials of communication programs on iPads to see which would be best for them to help them get their thoughts, ideas, and feelings expressed verbally through high tech tools, such as iPads. Now that we are returning to schools, it would be wonderful if I could get two more iPads for my students to utilize while at school. My students have so much to say and are incredibly smart, but getting their thoughts to be heard while being non-verbal can be frustrating and upsetting which can cause outbursts and tears. I would love to help teach my students how to use the iPads to effectively communicate and give them a voice; a voice to be heard to all around them.
