The goal of my project is to make the online learning experience engaging and meaningful. Current data is showing students are not choosing to watch instructional videos. I know that I can make lessons more engaging by using a culturally-relevant puppet as a co-teacher. The puppet can interact with me, help me teach, ask questions to help clarify misconceptions, and overall make lessons interactive and enjoyable. Additionally, my students need to be exposed to stories that they can relate too. The books I am requesting highlight neurodiversity and feature many learning differences my students have. Working on challenging ELA standards will become meaningful when using texts that the students identify and connect with. With a puppet on the other side of the screen, students will not be able to resist watching and learning. My students need to be provided a learning experience, using culturally relevant puppets along with books that explore neurodiversity will do just that.
