I've used the book, Among the Hidden, the past three years to teach the first unit of Language Arts, which is narrative. I prefer this book because it's a high-interest book that my students enjoy. I've heard my students say over and over again that they don't like reading, but they like this book. In addition, it fits in perfectly with the curriculum. Unfortunately, this book is hard to come by and my librarian has a hard time finding enough books for my students. It would be great if I can have enough books for all my students. I would use these books to provide the same experience for future students as well.
