Being able to hold book clubs with my students from many different backgrounds and abilities with books they see themselves represented in will help them build a love for learning. Many of the books included in our curriculum do not have the same representation as the students in our classroom. Supplementing their literacy education with books that represent all different background, cultures, and abilities will benefit my students' literacy education and will show them that no matter who they are or where they come from, they are not alone in the world.
