These novels will enhance each lesson throughout the school year. The Count of Monte Cristo has themes and standards that will help students compare and contrast different texts. My goal is to read a chapter a week and analyze the layers of the text. Furthermore, the novels will be an added reference when we discuss our theme for the year. The theme for 2020-2021 is a hero’s journey. Every story features a hero and his or her difficult journey. Hence, when we read different texts, we will compare and contrast Edmond’s journey.
