My students struggle daily with phonemic awareness and phonics skills. These two skills are the foundation to reading and writing, and without them, my students are going to struggle for the rest of their life. The activities that I have chosen will provide my students with fun, hands-on learning that they can either complete independently, in small groups, or in our daily small group intervention time. The Lakeshore Learning Company is a reputable source of these items and have proven over the years to engage the students successfully. Students must have a strong foundation in phonemic awareness and phonics to become lifelong, successful readers and writers in the real world. With these materials, I hope to provide my students with engaging tools that will make their learning fun as well as give them that strong support in their reading.
