Looking toward the unknown of next year, I am trying to plan ahead to help the students stay healthy and supported in whatever form our classroom takes. I am anticipating at least a partial return to the classroom, and it seems wise to reduce communal supplies during this time of social distancing. However, embedding hands-on learning and art into our academics is an important part of creating a dynamic and engaging classroom. I am looking to find a way to make sure students continue to be able to learn and create while possibly needing to be more portable and flexible with their supplies; as such, these items are meant to help them have what they need, wherever their learning environment may be. As budget cuts are enacted, and supply orders cancelled, these items are intended to help the children maintain some sense of order and normalcy. They are intended to help the children both academically (Scholastic News and portable folders) and physically (through maintenance and separation of personal supplies, such as with caddies and chair pockets) in order to keep our creativity thriving. As we move forward with health and safety in the forefront of our minds, I am hoping to help students understand the small changes that we can make to help keep ourselves and each other in the best health, both physically and mentally.
