The 2020-2021 school year will be my second year teaching. The majority of students who come into my classroom come from low income households and in some cases, have never held a book. My classroom library could use some work to promote reading in and out of our classroom. Students in my classroom love to read and often have to sit in louder spaces due to the lack of seating in the classroom library. I would love to create a library corner that promotes independent reading and a calm space for students. Having flexible seating in this area gives students a chance to read to self or read to a friend and becomes a safe space for students to learn.
