Who would not be successful without the guided direct attention from a teacher in a small group with eager students??!! Through guided/close reading methods, in all subject areas, students would be given small group instruction directed to them, at their level, based on their challenges and strengths. Seems simple right? Well not without the correct setting! As simple as providing our primary teachers with a kidney shaped desks, to bring a small group of students, comfortable in an oval setting, so teacher could have her eyes on each child, and give direct teaching individualized to them! The benefit of this type of table is that the teacher is within an arm's reach of each student. Children are more focused when they are in close proximity to the teacher, and when children are focused, they are able to make greater strides in gaining the reading skills in which they are lacking. Your help will ensure that my students are given every available advantage in gaining the reading skills needed to become successful readers!!
