To finish out our learning in second grade math and writing, students are going to need journals and writing resources as well as math tools such as rulers and tape measures. Our next math unit is measurement, and it requires access to rulers, tape measures, yard sticks and meter sticks. Our measurement unit requires students to measure real life objects, compare lengths, and find differences in lengths. Our final writing unit is opinion writing and in many cases there is no paper or pencils at home. Hands-on and easily accessible tools will motivate and engage students in their learning. These really are just basic necessities for the teaching and learning of each of these programs, basic necessities that we would like to put in the hands of our students.
