The sport of badminton appeals all the way from the most reluctant PE participants to the most competitive athletes. Our badminton equipment is used in each Physical Education class as well as in our noon-time intramural sports program. Our intramural sports program has been especially important this year in giving our students a healthy outlet instead of simply "hanging out" at lunch. This has been instrumental in reducing discipline issues school-wide. We have found that badminton reaches our mainstreamed autistic students quite effectively. These students who are often reluctant to participate in large-group games are drawn to badminton.
