My students want to become fluent readers. One surefire way to increase fluency and comprehension is for struggling readers to hear fluent reading. Our media center does not have the resources to provide headphones to be used in each classroom; therefore, my struggling readers have to turn on the captions in order to work online in programs designed to help readers by having them listen to effective reading. This becomes an insurmountable task for most and they give up and click any answer to complete the work.
